Today is World Mental Health Day!
It is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It is a day dedicated to building better lives for the millions of people around the world who are affected by mental illness.
This year’s theme is mental health promotion and suicide prevention.
Almost 800,000 people die by suicide every year. Furthermore, for each suicide, there are more than 20 suicide attempts. Suicides and suicide attempts have a ripple effect that impacts on families, friends, colleagues, communities and societies. Suicides are preventable. Much can be done to prevent suicide at individual, community and national levels.
Visit the World Mental Health Day website for further information about the day.
Visit the World Health Organization website for suicide data and information on suicide prevention.
We can all do something to help raise awareness of mental health issues and combat suicide.
Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide.
Join Martin Bullock Lawyers in taking “40 seconds of action” to help raise awareness of the scale of suicide around the world and the role that each of us can play to help prevent it.
