We’re now in 2020 – a new year and a new decade.
How did this happen?
What are your resolutions for this futuristic-sounding New Year?
New Year is a time to reflect on your life, to re-evaluate relationships, and to talk about what is important to you and to your family.
It’s time to decide!
It’s time to decide! It’s time to think about …
1. Making a Will / Update your Will
A Will ensures that, when you die, your assets are distributed according to your wishes. You can also secure the future of your under-18 children by nominating a guardian; this is particularly for blended families and families with children from different relationships.
Research indicates that up to 50% of Australian adults do not have a Will. If you are recently married you will need to update your Will, as marriage in Australia generally revokes any existing Will.
2. Getting a Power of Attorney and an Appointment of Guardian
A Power of Attorney and Appointment of Guardian allow you to nominate somebody to make your financial, medical and personal decisions on your behalf, in the event that you lose the capacity to make decisions due to illness or other factors. Protect yourself against future ill-health by getting these documents.
Dementia is on the rise, so act now before you forget to do so!
3. Getting a Divorce
Life is too short to be unhappy. If you are in a relationship that you would be better off out of, act now. We can help you with divorce, children’s matters, property matters and so on.
Whatever your choices, Martin Bullock Lawyers can offer you legal solution! Call us on (02) 9687 9322 and ask for Jacqueline and Greg.
As you reflect, re-evaluate and decide, we leave you with this poem:
So, do it. Decide.
Is this the life
you want to live?
Is this the person
you want to love?
Is this the best you can be?
Can you be stronger?
Kinder? More Compassionate?
Decide.
Breathe in.
Breathe out
and decide.
– Meredith Grey
Have a very happy 2020!
